We had a busy weekend! Now I know you're not supposed to overstimulate a newborn or even get him out around strangers too soon because of germs, etc., but we just had to get out of the house this weekend. I am discovering that I am absolutely not cut out for stay-at-home motherhood. I find myself itching to get out of the house just about every single day but sometimes with the little guy, by myself, that is easier said than done, so I try to wait until I know he's going to be asleep for a while to go anywhere. So far we have been to school twice and the grocery store once alone.
This weekend, however, Johnny, Jack, and I ventured out on Jack's first trip to Crosby to meet Johnny's sisters and their families and to see GG and Papaw. Luckily, he slept the entire way there, but poor guy really didn't get much sleep while we were there. He slept all the way to Katy to visit Johnny's other sister and then all the way home from Katy. I think he was pretty worn out. He was really good the whole time, though, and honestly, I don't think he minded being passed around and off his "schedule" as much as I did. I have to remind myself to let go sometimes. When he starts crying and someone else has him, I just want to run over and snatch him up to make him feel better, but hopefully I will get better about that with time. After all, he's not even 3 weeks old yet.
We have a busy week planned for this week as well. This evening we are going to a bridal shower for my friend Britina and Jack is coming (by special request). Tomorrow we will be attending the English department lunch at school to visit with Mommy's friends again, and tomorrow evening we will be going to the Commandant's BBQ for Daddy's work. The rest of the week is pretty low key, but he may as well get used to traveling. Many of his weekends will be spent on the road going to rugby games, so he needs to be used to being in the car and meeting new people. I guess it's never too early to start!
Oh...on a side note...this morning I had Jack on his tummy laying on top of my tummy and he held his head up all by himself for several seconds a couple of different times. He looked me square in the eye. It was so cool...then he scooted himself up to where his head was on my shoulder. Man this kid is strong! Okay...done bragging.
